Life Game: Cellular Sandbox
Change the rules. Explore what happens next.
Design local rules rather than changing the starting cells. Predict the outcome, then compare your design with a control experiment. Includes open-ended experiments and Conway's classic Game of Life on iPhone and iPad.

Languages
The app interface is available in English and Japanese. It follows the language selected for the app in iOS Settings.
Eight experiment challenges
All eight challenges are available from the start. Each has a fixed starting population, an intervention budget, an observation generation, and a goal. Tap or drag to place rules such as Maze, Seeds, and HighLife within the allowed cells.
Design, predict, compare
Before running, predict whether your final population will be higher, the same, or lower than the unchanged control. Compare the two boards from the same starting state over the same number of generations. A generation slider lets you inspect intermediate results.
Learn from the result
Earn stars for meeting the goal, predicting correctly, and working without hints. Read the explanation and retry while keeping your design; erase or reset rules when needed. Draft designs, best results, and the latest 60 experiments are saved so you can reopen comparisons.
Open-ended Rule Mosaic
Use the Experiment tab to mix Conway, HighLife, Seeds, and Maze rules with Cyan and Coral cells. Inspect a cell’s rule, neighbor count, and reason for changing. Save and compare branches, write hypotheses, and record population graphs.
Built-in patterns and Classic mode
Classic mode keeps Conway’s Game of Life, including board size, speed, wraparound, trails, and random placement. Open the collection of 15 patterns from the top of the Classic screen.
Data storage
Boards, experiment records, and settings stay on your device. No account or internet connection is required.
